Full Body Sponsorship: Ensuring your full body weight is behind each of your techniques to transfer the greatest amount of energy possible to all contact points on your opponent.


At the January Ladies Self Defense Seminar, Grand Master Al Garza shared the necessity of Full Body Sponsorship when employing self defense. Any arms strike, for example, requires a step or pivot to incorporate hip movement, therefore transferring the maximum amount of force to the fist, palm, fingers, or elbow. You can also lower your center of mass to transfer full body weight into a strike.
Full Body Sponsorship is necessary in all strikes for success. It can be applied to each of your seven weapons (head, shoulders, elbows, hands. hips, knees, and feet).
