My Safety First

When it comes to your safety, the feelings of others is a secondary concern. Prioritizing your gut instinct over caretaking others is a necessary deterrent in a bad situation.

As women, we are caretakers. We are driven to look out for the needs of others. As a Martial Artist, I have been trained to prioritize the safety of my family over the needs of others. Prioritizing your safety does not come naturally and must be learned. Here are few ways to ensure your safety, possibly at the expense of others feelings.

Guard Your Space: Make sure there is adequate distance around you to alleviate any unwanted touching and allow for a quick escape.

Watch Your Conversation: Don't allow a conversation to distract you into caretaking someone else's needs.

Don't Assume The Best: Don't assume people are there for your benefit. Assume they are there for theirs.

Listen To Your Gut: If you have bad feeling about a person or something in your environment, follow your gut instincts and get out immediately.

MY SAFETY FIRST. YOUR FEELINGS SECOND.
